Jaipur-based Brazilian designer Francieli Hess has been in the fashion business for about nine years; with a bachelor’s degree in fashion design from Universidade do Estado de Santa Catarina in Brazil. After working for several years as a fashion editor and business consultant in Brazil, Hess moved to India in 2019 and has been using using her previous professional experience to build every single step of the brand keeping sustainability as its main pillar. Having studied culture and design in Florence, Italy, she arrived in the Pink City and found a new relationship that nurtured her creative pursuits. She wanted to tie in Indian handicrafts with a distinct Brazilian design insight to give Hess clothing a new shape and aesthetic that stems from a sustainable mindset.
The conscious, non-seasonal luxury label brings feminine silhouettes to life in a bright, bold, and flattering colour palette. Pleasing to the eye, the breezy tiered dresses from Hess clothing are created using responsibly sourced Indian handcrafting, co-created with craft clusters of the country. Hess clothing also utilises biodegradable and repurposed natural materials for its packaging, while the tags are crafted with artisanal cotton paper made from upcycled cotton rags.
With a strong focus on design and fit, Hess celebrates the power of femininity on collections created with sustainability at its core. Everything is responsibly sourced and co-created in collaboration with small family-run businesses or local organizations empowering craft communities in India.
