Colombian label Agua by Agua Bendita was founded in 2003 by friends Catalina Alvarez and Mariana Hinestroza.
Born in Medellín, Colombia, Mariana Hinestroza and Catalina Álvarez met in college while studying fashion design, where they soon became good friends and business partners. Close to twenty years ago, Catalina & Mariana started a brand, Agua Bendita, with nothing more than some leftover fabric cuttings and an infinite amount of dreams. At first, they personally fabricated each piece from a local clothing factory and their grandmothers’ sewing machines. High demand led them to create alliances with talented female artisans from their hometown, a bond they have cherished ever since.
